Speronari Suites is an EcoWorldHotel-certified property, with annual independent third-party verification carried out by DNV.
On this page we publish our Environmental Policy and the certification statement. We prefer environmental commitment to be measured against documents and practices, not declarations.
The policy
Our Environmental Policy defines the areas in which we operate in a structured way: consumption analysis, energy efficiency, water management, waste reduction, choice of materials, selection of suppliers. It is a document subject to annual verification and available in full at the foot of this page.
Every year we measure our consumption and compare the data. The purpose is not to declare, but to reduce where we still can.
The practice
The electricity that powers Speronari comes 100% from renewable sources. Our air conditioners are Class A, remotely regulated and under scheduled maintenance; where conditions allow, we operate with free-cooling systems. Windows are double-glazed, room taps calibrated at six litres per minute, bulbs energy-saving throughout.
On waste, water is served in glass bottles, straws are biodegradable, dispensers have replaced single-use in the bathrooms. Separated waste collection is part of our operating procedure.
Of our guests, we propose a single daily choice: to forgo the daily change of towels when not necessary. It is a minor gesture, and it is voluntary.
The choices
The food we serve is largely organic and locally sourced. Our detergents — household and personal — are certified ecological formulations. The floors and fabrics selected during the fit-out are themselves certified. Where possible, we work with suppliers who hold their own environmental certifications.
This is not a list we wish to display: it is how the house ordinarily runs.
The certification
Our environmental management system is verified annually by DNV, an international and independent certification body, in accordance with EcoWorldHotel's Guide for environmentally sustainable accommodations. In July 2025, Speronari Suites was awarded two Eco-Leaves — Verification Statement No. C795789, valid until 6 July 2028, with annual review.
